Friuli Venezia Giulia

In this territory you can find many different landscapes: the Alps in the north and the Adriatic Sea with its lagoons in the south. In the middle, fertile plains and hilly areas which smell of flower meadows, vineyards that narrate an excellent wine tradition: welcome to Friuli Venezia Giulia!

Choosing Hotel Santin in Pordenone as base for your holidays is the best way to plan different itineraries between nature and culture, and visit the cities in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the eastern region of Italy. And so, when you ask us “Which things are there to do in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in Italy?”, we have many different answers!

Hotel Santin is located in an extremely favourable position: with a short walk you can reach the historic centre of the city. A peculiarity of this stroll is the presence of Adam and Eve Bridge which connects the Church of the Holy Trinity (just a few steps from our hotel) and the city centre. The bridge is built over Noncello, the river of Pordenone, where in the past there was a fluvial harbour of high commercial importance thanks to the connection with Venice. Crossing the bridge, you will be greeted by the statues of Jupiter and Juno which stand on the two columns of the bridge, even though they are commonly called Adam and Eve, hence the name of the bridge.

The area around the Noncello river has been transformed into a small fluvial park where many animal species live and they can also be admired from the lakeside. Among them, the mallard is the most widespread species with the typical bright colours of males and it is common to see females followed by a row of little chicks.

Finally, the city organizes periodic boat trips on the Noncello river, an original and special way of admiring and knowing Pordenone from a different and fascinating point of view, the same one that old merchants had when they arrived or left the city.

Only the city of Pordenone would be enough to spend entire days walking and staring at the beauties, but staying at Hotel Santin means also having the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful, and maybe undervalued, regions of Italy. Thank to its different landscapes, Friuli Venezia Giulia has fluvial parks, natural areas, sea, mountains and…everything that there is in the middle!
